With their program “Front Porch Stories” and the new CD of the same name, The Deltaboys transform the stage into a Southern-style front porch — and a concert into a special, almost intimate experience. With acoustic guitars, plenty of harmonicas, two expressive voices, and passionate musicianship, they tell touching and humorous stories about love and life.

Both musicians, Michael van Merwyk and Gerd Gorke, have been devoted to acoustic music for over 40 years. Independently of one another, both won the German Blues Challenge, the annual competition honoring Germany’s finest blues musicians. Their acoustic blues and soul have been heard throughout Germany and across half of Europe — and audiences in the USA have also enjoyed their voices.

A warm, welcoming atmosphere, music for the soul, far removed from any blues clichés — all brought to the stage with a twinkle in the eye.

Gerd Gorke – vocals, harp

For over 40 years, Gerd Gorke has been a prominent figure in the German blues scene. During that time, he has performed more than 2,500 concerts throughout Germany. With his bands Hootin’ the Blues, The Deltaboys, and The Speedos, he has toured 14 European countries as well as the United States.

His résumé also includes numerous concerts with American blues artists such as Angela Brown, Louisiana Red, Dave Myers, Sam Myers, and more than ten years of intensive touring with US singer Jeanne Carroll & Blues Mafia.

Michael van Merwyk – vocals, acoustic guitar

German multi-instrumentalist Michael van Merwyk first gained experience through hundreds of performances in his home country before conquering the international stage in recent years. His journey has taken him from Paris to Moscow and all the way to the USA.

In 2013, he and his band Bluesoul won second prize at the prestigious International Blues Challenge — the highest placement ever achieved by a European band in the history of the competition.
